Kidical Mass, July 24 2011, Somerville

Our friend Brian is rounding folks up for another Kidical Mass, this time in Somerville (see here for the report on last summer’s ride)

We’ll be gathering at Somerville City Hall (93 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA) at noon on July 24th, for some bicycle admiring and decorating. We’ll start the ride at 1:00, going a bit less than four miles.

The bulk of the route will be on either off street bike paths, or Highland Ave, which will be completely closed to car traffic as part of the SomerStreets program. We’ll have police escort for the entire ride, so we’ll have nice shielding from traffic for the few on-street portions.

With such a protected ride, please consider bringing kids on their own independent bikes, though of course we’ll be excited to see folks with seats, trailer bikes, and fancy cargo bikes. Kids do need to come with a grown-up in charge of them. Highland ave will be closed to car traffic until 4pm, with other fun activities, so consider sticking around after the ride, and many thanks to the city of Somerville for providing great support for the ride.

Hope to see you there!
