Last week, I was riding home from daycare on the bike with H and R. H, who is almost five, started telling a story about her kid, Poppy Pop, and how much H, Poppy Pop, and all of H’s many kids love to travel.
“Oh,” I said, “How do you travel? Do you walk or ride bikes or …”
“Yes,” H said, “We walk a everywhere and we drive cars. But we don’t bike.”
“Oh, you never bike?”
“No, we’re a bikefree family. I write a blog about it actually, about being a bikefree family.”
Now, of course, I’m cracking up, because H is lampooning us. I didn’t know she even knew we had a blog.
“Oh yes,” she continues, “All my kids love cars. Any time they see a car, they ask to have it. Even the babies. They just love cars.”
So there you have it folks. From carfree to bikefree in just one generation. Lucky for us, she loves riding a bike too much to carry out the threat!

Hahahahaha! I love it! I’m picturing the blog now. “Bike free and loving it,” and a little four-year-old at the wheel of a car, zipping down the road, big grin on her face.

What’s this I hear about a new bike in the stable? I have to read about it on Lovely Bike before I read about it here? Come on, the blog-o-sphere awaits your writeup!
JB – Wait, what? I need to read my own comments more thoroughly. Whose/ which new bike?
A bike free lifestyle is a funny idea that I can imagine in a place like Amsterdam. Enough already; let’s walk or take public transit instead of being a slave to these heavy fietsen for which we can never find parking spaces!

I’m not sure what was on your site either unless Angela made a comment I missed.
We have added a trailer bike to the mix (a delightful burley piccolo) and are working on combining it with front seat for a lighter-weight two-kid set up, but details remain to be worked out before it’s ready for prime time. Not sure what else you heard JB!
Ok, maybe I’m confused. Reading the comments on that thread, I thought you were MommaVee, and the comments made it sound like this was your bike, but maybe I read it wrong.
Well, I’m with you JB, if MamaVee has a new bike, I want to know about it too! (she’s at http://suburbanbikemama.blogspot.com/)
